Company history
Svašek Hydraulics Engineering was founded in 1969 by Honzo Svašek (1926-1994). The decision to start his own company was influenced by the construction of the Maasvlakte. As a civil engineer, he was already involved in the preparations, and as an entrepreneur, he foresaw a significant task ahead. This prediction came true, as the last design study for the construction of the Maasvlakte was completed in 1977. From 2005, Svašek was once again heavily involved in Maasvlakte II.
In the 1990s, Svašek Hydraulics was part of the engineering and architectural firm De Weger BV in Rotterdam, a company that was acquired by Royal Haskoning in 1998. In 2003, Svašek Hydraulics and Royal Haskoning reached an agreement on a management buy-out, after which Svašek Hydraulics once again became a fully independent consultancy. Bram Bliek served as director of Svašek Hydraulics from 1984 to 2025.
In April 2025, Svašek Hydraulics merged with HKV Lijn in water. Together, they now form a single organisation with two strong brands and one hundred professionals, who are more committed than ever to tackling the complex challenges of our time on behalf of their clients.
