The support consisted of:\r\n<OL><LI>the establishment of the nearshore wave climate,\r\n<LI>a wave tranquillity study,\r\n<LI>coastline impact study,\r\n<LI>the quantification of the maintenance dredging requirement.<\/OL>\r\n\r\nThe nearshore wave climate has been established by means of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.svasek.nl\/model-onderzoek\/swan\/\">SWAN<\/a> simulations with which an offshore wave data set has been transformed to a nearshore wave data set. This transformed wave climate was input to both the morphological study and the wave tranquillity study.\r\n\r\nFor various harbour layouts the wave conditions and associated downtime at the berths have been calculated with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.svasek.nl\/model-onderzoek\/hares\/\">HARES<\/a> (HArbour RESonance) model suite, developed by Sva\u0161ek Hydraulics.\r\n\r\nThe impact of the harbour on the coastline has been assessed by means of a coupled FINEL-SWAN model. The SWAN model delivers wave-induced forces and near bed orbital velocities to FINEL. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.svasek.nl\/model-onderzoek\/finel\/\">FINE<\/a>L calculates the sediment transport fluxes in the surf zone both with and without the presence of the harbour.
