At HKV and Sva\u0161ek, we therefore place great value on publishing our expertise. Every year, we recognize the best article published by one of our colleagues in a professional magazine or scientific journal. This award is the Jan van Noortwijk Award, named after our colleague who passed away far too young and who made the art of publishing his hallmark. More information about Jan and the award can be found at: <a href=\"https:\/\/janvannoortwijk.hkv.nl\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/janvannoortwijk.hkv.nl\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This year marked the 18th presentation of the award.<\/p>\n<p>During our quarterly meeting on Thursday, 25 June\u2014a particularly hot day\u2014the three nominees each gave a short pitch to present their article:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Anna Kroon with \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41598-025-02300-8\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Parameter uncertainty in mediumterm coastal morphodynamic modeling<\/a>\u201d in Scientific Reports<\/li>\n<li>Hermjan Barneveld with \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41586-025-09305-3\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Extreme river flood exposes latent erosion risk<\/a>\u201d in Nature.<\/li>\n<li>Jochem Caspers and Paulina Kindermann with \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S037838392500081X?via%3Dihub\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Storm surge hydrographs and characteristics along the Dutch coast. An analysis from simulation data<\/a>\u201d in Coastal Engineering.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the end, our colleagues and students selected Hermjan\u2019s Nature paper as the best article of 2025.
